Florida is a Southern state in the United States. A long, low peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean (E) and the Gulf of Mexico (W), Florida is bordered by Georgia and Alabama (N).

Florida is known as the Sunshine State. "Florida" is a Spanish adjective which means "flowery"  because it was discovered by Spanish explorers during the Easter season, or Pascua Florida in Spanish.

The U.S. Postal abbreviation is FL.

Tallahassee is the Florida state capital and Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Saint Petersburg, Hialeah, and Orlando are the largest cities.
